What is a PTZ camera?
Usually controlled by a physical controller when an analog camera and by web or computer-client based when an IP camera, these controls allow the user to Pan (left-right), Tilt (up-down) and Zoom (in-out) the camera.
They used to be pretty much the domain of higher-end security systems, but are finding their way into studios because the camera resolutions are much better - rather than have 3-4 cameras with their own camera person, a single person can control more than one camera remotely.

As well, the professional sports "skycam" systems at football games are PTZ camera - with motors on wires for positioning around and above the playing field.
