Why is my mini electrical transformer not working?
Ok, last night I took 3 screwdrivers, wrapped toilet paper around all three. I took each one and made a primary of 10 coils on it with wire and then made secondaries of 200 coils over the primary on each with insulated wire. I cascaded these 20:1 transformers so that the secondary of the transforemers are connected to the primaries of the next transformer. So it is 20 * 20 * 20 or 8000 times the initial voltage. Then i used a pulsed DC current of 3 volts in the primary of the first transformer and connected the business end to a automotive spark plug. No sparks. Why is it not working?
you can't cascade transforms like that.
There is a factor called "turns/volt". For your first transformer, you have about 3 turns/volt, which may work, depending on the frequency of the psuedo-AC. But the second transformer will have 3/20 or 0.15 turns/volt, which will not work, you need more turns.
