Choosing hangers for your store is an important step in your design process. There are many different styles to choose from and you want to make a good decision at this step in your store design. There are a few things to consider and you should educate yourself before you purchase any hangers for your store. The first step is to consider functionality. Plastic hangers are cheaper than most and can work well in larger stores that have a lot of merchandise to display. If you’re selling heavier items like coats and jeans, then the quality of the hanger becomes even more important. Hangers that can break will make your merchandise end up on the floor, damaging merchandise, making a poor impression on your customers and creating a sharp dangerous hazard in your store. Wooden hangers are best for heavier merchandise.
Sticking to one type of hanger throughout your store will give your store a more uniform feel. This also makes reordering easier. Having high-quality wooden hangers makes the best impression on your customers. You can buy matching ones in all different styles to accommodate different types of merchandise. Ones with clips are good for hanging pants face forward. Wooden hangers with a round hanging bar are great for keeping wrinkles and creases out of pants that are hung short.
One thing you may not have considered is how the hangers you choose can brand your store and promote your image. A lot of consumers will actually pay more for an item displayed on a nice wooden hanger than they would for the same item on a cheap plastic one. Wooden hangers are thicker and keep items separated where they can be easily sifted through for sizes without getting smashed together or jumbled on the rack.
People will eventually come to associate your store image with your name. Hangers are and iatrical part of that association. They become part of your brand image so you need to consider what that image is. Are you hoping to promote discounted items or high-end fashion? What type of customer are you hoping to attract? Keep all of these things in mind when selecting your hangers and you’ll be happy with your decision for years to come.
