Why are there constantly a number of bees lining my door, and all over my welcome mat. Is this an omen?
Its fairly cold where i live now, high of mid 50's. Everytime i come home honey bees, and yellow jackets are lining my door, even sitting there almost in perfect rows on my welcome mat. I have to actually break in to my home most of the time, so i dont have to cross them. Its been like this for almost two weeks.. they are all there one day, then not the next. I thought perhaps maybe something sweet was on the door mat or door, so i scrubbed everything down with bleach over a week ago. They still are coming back. It freaking me out. And no there is no where for them to have a hive or next since its a pretty blank area with no trees or shrubs or anything.
It is the end of the season for them and they are making a last ditch effort to find food. They are probably attracted to odors coming from your house especially if you use some kind of freshening fragrance to refresh your house with.
